You will love this hand-picked purple tea from Kenya.
It's the perfect combo of "tastes good, is good for you, and good for the planet"!
It is FairTrade, non-GMO, and Rainforest Alliance certified. While not certified organic, yet, the garden is actively working towards obtaining the certification from EU and USA. No pesticides or chemicals were used on these leaves. From farm to cup, the garden makes the tea according to the organic standards.
The body is light and the vegetal note is similar to a Chinese green tea, with a hint of sweet finish. Low in caffeine, the colour of the brew is somewhere between light red and light purple.
This special varietal is only grown in Kenya. The leaf naturally has a purple hue because of a mutation that resulted in the production of an antioxidant called anthocyanin, a compound that you will also find in other purple food such as blueberries, blackcurrants, and pomegranate.
We love enjoying it as an iced tea with a lime wedge.
